In Pursuit of Happiness - Love What You Do

Updated: Apr 30, 2020

What’s that one thing we can do to help us to take ourselves to greater heights in our personal and professional life?

In my opinion, if we love what we do, then things fall in place. I also feel that cumbersome tasks will become easier if we love what we are doing. If you’re in pursuit of happiness, here are some things to consider:

Career Planning and Development

If you love what you do, then it becomes lot easier to make a career out of it. You will have means to do things, solve problems, and find the right people to help solve any problems that you cannot solve yourself. This all is possible because of your sheer passion for what you are doing.

Efficiency and Productivity

Since you have interest and passion in what you love to do, there’s a great chance of you being efficient and productive. You always find ways to improve by creating your own benchmarks and surpassing them. You are not working for others, you’re working for yourself. It does make a big difference.

Interpersonal Skills/Relationship Management

We hear about office politics, work pressure, boss not treating well, and so on. These problems take a back seat for someone who enjoys his or her work. You are so engrossed in your work that you hardly see these issues, and you are so passionate about doing things that you find ways to get things done (even if the person in front of you may not be as supportive).

Essentially, I want to say that we must not leave any gap between doing what we love and loving what we do.

If we aim to be happy and enjoy what we do then we will grow into better individuals and professionals.

This may seem like a compromise. But it is not. My drive for doing something I love must be more than any obstacle in this world and if it is not then I better love what I do.

Very rightly said by the great thinker and philosopher Confucius, “Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life.”
